 Lee’s Carpets approached NC State with a collaborative project and six students (two Graphic Design, two Industrial Design, and two Art and Design) were selected to contribute. Over the extended project, we focused on process, discovery, technology, and marketing strategies. Our inspirations came from the colors and shapes that emerged from urban landscapes and the desire to create an experience for the user. RBN is designed so that the user can interact with the surface as they move across it. The interplay of fiber color and the exposed backing lets the user feel that they are the center of activity, surrounded in an aura of color. RBN recieved Silver in Broadloom at Neocon 2003 and was mentioned
in Metropolis, Interior Design, and other well known design magazines. |
