Chaos is a database-driven
narrative about the evelopment of a butterfly. During my period of research,
I made many interesting discoveries about the variables that are involved in creating the color of a butterfly. So many variables, in fact, that it
is almost random. While things such as environment, food, sex, etc. did have
some slight impact on the outcome, the results appeared random. The aesthetics of this site, as seen, are highly influenced by pages of notes and sketches
done during my research.
As for the final experience, the user is guided through a combination of my research process and the results thesmelves. The first step guides users through an engaging experience that represents the narrative behind butterfly creation and the parallel to chaos theory. The second part of the experience focuses on the data itself. A node for each butterfly displays information that describes the butterfly's characteristics. |
